Great
Wedding Receptions (require a great band!)
“The
band IS the party. A sensational band is remembered long after the floral
arrangements, the table settings, the invitations or the food.”
(Perfect wedding magazine)
A
great wedding
reception band brings everyone together on the dance floor. Every guest both
young and old should be able to mark this grand occasion as they dance to their
favorite type song. The music should be lively, romantic, energetic, fun,
sentimental and exciting.
No
band can bring all this musical diversity together better than the Andrew
Thielen Big Band. (Please read our reference letters.) With this big band and
our great vocalists your guests can dance to the hits of Frank Sinatra, KC & The
Sunshine Band, Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison, Glenn Miller, Bob Seger, Norah
Jones, Michael Buble, Sam Cooke, Neil Diamond, Pink,20Motown the Beatles and
everyone else that has had a great hit song to dance to in the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s,
70’s, 80’s, 90’s and beyond.
The
Band should also be classy enough to help emcee the event if asked. Break music,
cocktail music, announcements and segues to get guests involved in the reception
are our specialty. We have some fun and clever schemes to get bridesmaids,
grooms men and other weddings guests all involved in the musical fun of the
evening. We won’t give away these surprises here ........but they are done with
great taste and can bring about some very charming, action-filled photo
opportunities.
Some pointers about 1st
Dance Songs....
Our
big band has a huge repertoire of first dance songs beyond those shown here. So we will find something perfect for you to kick off the evening of dancing. And having our big band play brides and grooms into the hall has often brought about huge roars from the crowd. But every first dance is NOT the same depending upon the bride and groom's taste. Some newlyweds like to
show off their dancing skills for the whole number.
Other
brides and grooms prefer to use these songs as “ice breakers” to get everyone
on the floor. Whatever the case, the first dance song is a piece of show biz
here and timing is everything.
A sentimental tune, a light rock ballad or a
romantic swinger always gets the crowd excited about joining in now or later. But the best tip is to avoid long unfamiliar tunes, or you'll be on the dance floor spinning endlessly while your audience becomes bored.
To
help you get started, here are some great choices for first songs or the band
can have any song you want arranged for a small fee.
